Hello,
I was wondering if anybody would happen to know where I can find tutorials on how to use Microsoft Office 2007 with JAWS? I am finding it difficult to use it in comparison to Office 2003. Thank you in advanced.

I am also having some trouble with this. MS 2007 is set up relatively different to 2003. One thing I can tell you is that some of the shortcuts, copy, paste, etc, you will be able to use the same ones as you may be used to. However, to access the menus, you'll hit alt, which will take you to what is called a ribbon. You would use your right and left arrows to toggle between the ribbons, and tab to move through the items on each of them. This is very basic, but it's the best advice I can give you, at least to start with. As far as some kind of tutorial, if anyone knows of something, that would be very helpful as I too need it for my class. We are going to be required to do some more advanced things with the application, so any help would be very much appreciated.

You may want to look in to the classic menu for office 2007. It's a plug-in that you can buy for $20 or so, but I can't remember the website where to get it right now. Just throw classic menu for office 2007 in to google, and you'll surely find it. Good luck.

$20 to make something accessible that should have been from the very beginning? Hmmmm, I suppose if the comission paid for it that may be ok, because it is, after all, for class. That is, if I don't drop it! Hmmmmmmm.

It's not that you are paying for accessibility, since it's technically accessible through the keyboard shortcut keys. In fact, it was never created with the blind in mind, rather, because a lot of the sighted population was not comfortable with the new menu structure. My suggestion is that we start becoming familiar with this stuff, since eventually, you will not be able to run those older versions of office. Microsoft is cramming it down our throats, just like they are the newer messengers.

well, perhaps, microsoft as a huge corganization as they are, should really tap in to looking at two different menu, the clasic and the new menu that they using. or at least, give user a choice to choose. but, as it is for now, it will be only harder in the future. the only thing perhaps, is we, tap in to the unassessable software / hardware world slowly, and got use to it. seriously, as long as jaws or any of the screen reader program can cope, i don't see a big deal of it.
i admit that it needs time to use to office 2007, but it have quite a comprehensive fitures that perhaps the preassessers may not have. it is hard to get grip of when you first started, but, well, try to practice it, even when you no need it, or try to explore the menu, or so call taps menu, it aint teriblely dificult as it look, but of course, it is different from the previous layout, but it is not impossible to use to it.
